The Brain Cannot Filter The Background Noise As Irrelevant
One of the signs of age-related hearing loss is the difficulty of filtering background noise from a conversation. This means that it gets more difficult to understand what the other person is saying in a noisy environment. Recent studies have shown that in younger people, the brain can establish a pattern on the background noise and filters it as irrelevant.
