Study: Patients With Mild To Moderate Hearing Loss May Not Need Costly Hearing Aids




They May Use Less Costly Personal Amplification Devices, Which Are Controversial




There is a controversy about hearing aids. There are devices specially tailored got hearing loss sufferers, which amplify sounds between certain frequencies, such as human voice, and set a limit to amplification, in order to avoid damage. There are used by patients from mild to excessive hearing loss. On the other hand, there are personal amplification devices, which cost a fraction of hearing aids, which simply amplify the sounds and do not consider the level of disability of the user. A recent study states that patients with mild to moderate hearing loss do not need costly hearing aids, and personal amplification devices are slightly less effective.
